Saturday morning saw our u16 Carrigaline RFC - Official Sundays Well RFC team saw us on road again to play Youghal RFC in a South Munster clash.
On a bright blustery morning our lads although short a few players due to injury and illness started well and much like our last visit to Youghal found ourselves scoring early through a fine Seamus O’Mahomy converted effort.
Youghal hit back quickly to level the game.
After a lull period in scoring Calum Fitz scored our second try following a barnstorming run off the back of a scrum - won against the head.
Seamus was next on the score sheet in the corner to extend the lead.
Not to be outdone Youghal hit back with a superb try on the stroke of halftime to leave the score 19-14.
The second half was a cagier affair but no less competitive.
A Youghal try brought the score level and with a few injuries taking their toll they struck again late on to run out deserving winners in the end .
Full time score 24-19 to Youghal.
Well done to Rian Moynihan who was our players pick for player of the game - a fantastic effort.
All in all while the result this time didn’t go our way the lads are really gelling as a group and we look forward to the second half of the season.
Special thanks to Youghal RFC for the hospitality shown to our players and parents that travelled.
